Re: Defoe Transfer Request Regret
Mad dog, thanks memory not what it was. Defoe submitted a transfer request one day after Roeder relegated us, but was rejected, that's when he forced through a move to the 4 x 2s by getting sent off 3 times and only played 22 out of 34 games. Got the Judy's bit right :-)

Re: Defoe Transfer Request Regret
Thought he was a prat at the time but he seems a nice enough fella so I forgive and forget. With Ince though I always wonder what would have happened if Lyall had stayed in charge. Ferguson had already approached John for Ince but had been turned down. Fergie later admitted that when John got the bullet he didn't feel guilty going for Ince again. I think both were naive but they aren't the only ones. I love TC but he does seem to get a free pass despite constantly knocking on Lyall's door for a move.

Riddle. He got the 3 reds in the promotion chase 2003-4. All before Christmas when he finally got his move.

Know it was 20.years ago, but think you've got that confused

Re: Defoe Transfer Request Regret
Our main striker getting sent of 3 times in a relegation battle deliberately missing games until too late relegated us, which is what he wanted so he could justify handing in a transfer request and leave. Judus.

Re: Defoe Transfer Request Regret
He made a mistake. He freely admits it now . And the way he supported young Bradley Lowery .makes up for his initial mistake. Unlike rio Ferdinand doesn't forget where he came from.

Re: Defoe Transfer Request Regret
If he was that regretful he provably wouldn't have got sent off 3 times and continuously refusing to pass to connly

He did redeem himself helping out that poor Bradley kid in sunderland

Showed his true colours with the Lowry kid at Sunderland and any issues I had with him went. Gentlemen of a man.

Re: Defoe Transfer Request Regret
He has talked about this a few times, always with regret and what he did so credit in some ways for admitting you were a bit of a cunt, think to an extent it was down to his agent and advisors, will give him the benefit of the doubt and forgive a bit, him being a young player taking bad advice, but he was still an Adult, so i don't buy the "just a naive" kid bollocks.

Ince in a similar boat, both seem to regret it, but both where adults at the time as well.
